| Mounting and Installation procedures / requirements |
The IRU-2000 series is available in two body styles. Both are easily mounted. The IRU-2100
has a 2" or 3" NPT on the front of the sensor for mounting, or for this application, a 1" NPT off
the back. The IRU-2000 is mounted by 4 screws or by mounting clamps. It is important to keep
the sensor perpendicular to the material being monitored. When mounting the sensor for stock
pile elevation, the sensor must be mounted below the conveyer arm. This is can be done either
by a bracket on the conveyer or off the conduit. If the sensor is mounted on the conduit, it is
important the conduit is anchored to ensure the sensor does not get out of alignment.

| Sugar Beet Processing Conveyor System Control |
Sugar beets and potatoes are transported by truck from the fields to cellars for storage or
processing plants. When the trucks arrive at either the processing plants or the cellars, they are
unloaded and moved by conveyers. The two critical factors for the conveyers are to prevent overloading
the conveyer and to have the conveyer at the right height.
If the conveyer is overloaded, the product will be dumped off the side or worse, the motor cen be damaged. If the height of the conveyer is too low to
the ground or pile of product, there will be a jam. If the conveyer is too far from the ground or the
pile of product, the product will damage because of the fall. Both cause product loss.
APG's sensors provide control functions when dealing with the transportation of the bulk solids such as sugar beets and potatoes. The sensors provide stock pile
elevation for controlling the conveyor height. Product depth on the conveyor is measured for
controlling conveyor speed or to prevent overloading. The IRU-2000 series eliminates the need
for mechanical limit switches. Ultrasonic technology is not material or color dependent,
provides continuous monitoring, and provides adjustable alarm settings. |
