| Distance Measurement in a Wash Bay |
Inside the wash, vehicle width and length must be determined in order to maximize wash performance. Spray nozzles have an optimum range where they provide the most effective cleaning.
The sensors are mounted on the carriage and as the carriage travels the length of the wash bay, the sensors provide the wash controller with left and right positioning of the vehicle. Top mounted sensors provide profile, as well as length of the vehicle.
Ultrasonic sensors are ideal for this application. There are no floor mounted mechanical devices to install and maintain. There are no lenses to become dirty as with photoelectric sensors, and the ultrasonic sensor is environmentally sealed to withstand the conditions inside the wash.
