Industrial plants are required to monitor and process their water waste stream. The requirements are strictly enforced by state and local agencies, using EPA guidelines in the USA.
To reduce demands on municipal wastewater treatment plants, many large industrial plants supply their own treatment systems. Often the industrial wastewater treatment plant is in the form of a prefabricated "package" plant.
Package plants provide all the steps of a typical water treatment process. However, the steps are contained on one or more skids or platforms. The instruments required to monitor and control the package plant are very similar to those required in custom-built municipal plants. The instruments include: level, flow and pressure, using many techniques available from Automation Product Group, Inc. Ultrasonic, pressure sensors and gauges, float switches and level monitors, are some of the techniques available for industrial treatment plants. |
