This method allows you to replace a submersible pressure transducer with an ultrasonic sensor very easily. The video shows you how to set-up the LPU-2428 ultrasonic sensor to behave like a submersible sensor to eliminate additional changes to the existing wiring.
Narrator: You’re watching APGTV. I’m Shaw Merrill, and today we’re going to show you how to program your LPU-2428 ultrasonic sensor using the submersible option in the LPU-2428 programming software.
The submersible option is used when you are replacing a submersible sensor, or pressure sensor, such as the PT-500.
To begin programming the LPU-2428, click on the basic set up button on the left side of the screen. Then, select the units to be displayed on the right.
Next, set the application to submersible.
Click the send button near the bottom of the screen to send these settings to the sensor. Wait until the progress bar completes to move to the next step.
Now we’re ready to set up the remaining parameters. Click the application set up button on the left menu and set submersible range to the maximum range of the submersible sensor you are replacing. So if you are replacing a 10 psi sensor, you should put 23.1 ft (or the equivalent in inches).
Next, set the depth distance, to the distance from the sensor face to the farthest target being detected. This tells the sensor how far you want to measure.
Click the 4-20 set up button in the left of the screen and verify the 4-20 set point values are set correctly. The minimum milliamp set point, this is the 4mA setting, is usually set to zero.
Press the send button to save these settings, and wait for the progress bar to complete.
Your sensor is now set up and ready to go! The remaining advanced features in the programming software will default to automatic settings. To change these settings, please refer to the LPU-2428 user manual programming section.
